معمولاً اسکن پرفیوژن ریه در این موارد به همراه اسکن ونتیلاسیون ریه انجام می شود ولی در اغلب مراکز به دلیل موجود نبودن رادیو داروی مناسب برای اسکن ونتیلاسیون ریه، اسکن پرفیوژن به تنهایی و مقایسه آن با رادیوگرافی ساده ریه از دقت تشخیصی قابل قبولی برخوردار می باشد. اسکن پرفیوژن ریه حدود ۱۵-۲۰ دقیقه طول خواهد کشید. این اسکن در دو مرحله، با فاصله زمانی ۲ تا ۳ ساعت انجام می گیرد. با چکاندن یک قطره ۹۹mTc در هر چشم و انجام تصویربرداری می توان در کمتر از ۳۰ دقیقه، وجود یا عدم وجود انسداد و همچنین محل آن را مشخص نمود. اسکن پاراتیروئید جهت تشخیص و تعیین محل غده پاراتیروئید پر کار انجام می شود. برای انجام این اسکن ابتدا رادیو دارو به صورت وریدی تزریق می شود و در فواصل ۲۰ دقیقه، ۲ ساعت و گاهی ۳ ساعت از جلوی گردن و قفسه سینه بیمار تصویربرداری انجام می شود. مصرف برخی داروها مانند لوتیروکسین، لیوتیرونین و متی مازول می تواند بر روی اسکن تأثیر بگذارد لذا در صورت نیاز و با تشخیص پزشک، ممکن است نیاز به قطع این داروها باشد.
