Gujarat is the top cotton-producing state in the Country, with a production of 90.60 lakh bales, which contributed 27.85% to the nation.
Maharashtra is the second leading kapas cultivation state, including districts like Nagpur and others. With that, 80.45 lakh bales of production contributed 24.73% to the Country’s total output.
In the year 2023-24, Telangana produced 50.80 lakh bales of cotton, accounting for 15.62% of the nation’s total production.
The fourth largest cotton producer is the state of Rajasthan, which accounts for 26.22 lakh bales in 2023-24 and holds 8% of the Country’s share.
MP (Madhya Pradesh) has many districts that farm cotton, like Khargone, Mandsaur, and Ratlam.
