While attending the Game Developers Conference 2024, Screen Rant was able to participate in a hands-on demonstration of a newer build of Wuthering Waves . Following a brief demonstration of mechanics from a member of the Kuro Games team, we were able to play through a brief combat section against a boss, an open-world puzzle, and some exploration of one of the game’s settlements. Make no mistake: this game is unabashedly attempting to capitalize on the space Genshin Impact carved out for the genre years ago. But it does it well enough that it feels like it has its own identity,
Much like any other open-world game, Wuthering Waves has various world bosses with their special markers on the map. You can start finding these bosses quite early in the game, but they only get revealed when you activate the Resonance Nexus that’s supposed to reveal the part of the map they’re
In short, rerolling in Wuthering Waves is not worth the effort. The process takes around 35-45 minutes for each reroll similar to many popular games like Honkai: Star Rail or Genshin Impact , and it can extend to a few days since players will receive additional pull chances in the upcoming days. Moreover, each reroll requires creating a new account and binding it to a new email address, further lengthening the process. Additionally, players can quickly obtain a 5-star character from the limited roster in 50 pulls (worth 40 pulls due to discounted pulls) and select the next 5-star standard character within the next 80 pu
The last innovation in combat is Wuthering Waves ‘ echo system, which is sort of a blend between traditional equipment-based abilities and a creature collecting game. Players can collect the Echoes of enemies they defeat in the game and then equip them to a character (one per unit), which in turn provides stat bonuses and the ability to transform into that echo during a battle to briefly call upon their abilities. We defeated a boss, equipped their Echo, and then used it in the next battle to great effect; it was also pretty cool to occupy the body of an enemy that was fun to fight just minutes bef
As Wuthering Waves ‘ long-anticipated official launch is finally here, fans of Kuro Games’ franchise, as well as enthusiasts of open-world RPGs , have a new game to experience and immerse themselves in . However, since the game involves Gacha elements to collect most of the characters, some players, especially those planning to play as F2P, might feel inclined to reroll to start the game with their desired characters. Fortunately, the game launches with numerous rewards and a beginner Gacha system, making it easier for players to obtain 5-star characters. Here’s how players can efficiently reroll in Wuthering Wav
Jianxin: Jianxin is a character that gives the good description of jack of all trades, master of none, being a hybrid character who balances support and damage roles, offering diverse team benefits. She excels in sustain, making her quite useful in overworld content combined with her AoE attacks that are excellent for defeating weaker groups of enemies. However, her versatility is both a strength and a weakness. Jianxin requires a lot of field time, making her not the best teammate for most of the existing primary DPS characters. She is prone to interruptions, struggles with high energy costs, and lacks the damage output needed for endgame content. Generally, for players who are interested in completing the story, exploring the world, and farm in overworld, over tackling end SLG game tips content as of now, she is an excellent pick. Priority:
Encore: Encore is perfect hybrid DPS in terms of being able to dish out both ranged and melee attacks, since she transforms into a melee powerhouse during her Ultimate, dealing most of her damage during this period. Her Ultimate combo is straightforward and forgiving, making her easier to play than characters like Calcharo on that regard, though she will have hard time parrying, which might be quite a deal-breaker for some players. Encore boasts one of the highest single-target DPS windows, but as of now, she does not have a well-synergizing sub-dps partner, except Sanhua. In short, Encore is a solid DPS and is highly effective in the Tower of Adversity, but her ideal team composition is a little lacking due to the existing roster of characters. DPS wise, she is similar to Calcharo, and ultimately players should pick either one of them depending on their preference in play style, or character design, if they are intending to pick a DPS character as their priority. Data Bank Level holds the key to unlocking the full potential of Echo drops, essential for progression and character development. Considering that this doesn’t require sources like Waveplates for the time being, especially for most overworld Echo’s, players should try to track down and collect every Echo in various rarities as much as possible while exploring the world of Wuthering Waves. With a higher Data Bank Level, players will be able to achieve higher rarity and frequency of Echo drops, making their characters even stronger. This also goes hand in hand with not wasting too much resources in Echo levelling early on, as players are recommended to keep these resoueces for higher rarity echo’s with suitable sonatas and st
